  • Overview

    The Junior Production Designer will be responsible to revise, update, and create various print/digital collateral including product packaging, advertisements, catalogs, brochures and all forms of digital media. This position requires a meticulous eye and attention to detail, proficiency in pre-press production, a sharp eye for balance and knowledge of typography. Candidate must be able to multi-task to meet deadlines, while maintaining quality control. This position will work out of both the Farmingdale and Brooklyn office.

    Responsibilities

    • Creating / reviewing mechanicals and prepping jobs for press, which includes the following: pre-flighting, press-checking, typesetting, layout adjustment, spot color selection to create clean press files and troubleshooting as necessary. Other technical duties include photo retouching, high resolution Photoshop comping and asset management.
    • Working with our in-house printing department and developing/maintaining relationships with outside vendors to maintain a smooth flow of producing packaging and other collateral in a timely and accurate manner. This includes reviewing and approving mock-ups and vendor proofs.
    • Collaborating with Creative Team and Product Management to revise outdated product packaging, catalogs, brochures, and other artwork according to new branding standards. This may include designing art for new products, creating line extensions, while remaining consistent with existing product lines and maintaining brand identity. This may also require suggesting appropriate printing techniques and paper stock.
    • Contributing creative ideas on special projects such as designing logos, swag, custom art, promotional items, straps, picks and drumheads.

    Qualifications

    • Applicants must submit a portfolio in order to be considered.
    • A Bachelor's degree in a related field
    • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat  
    • Willingness to travel to and work out of both the Farmingdale and Brooklyn offices.     
    • Strong graphic, print production and web production skills
    • Strong work ethic with organizational skills, attention to detail and good communication and listening skills
